FAVORITE BOOKS

I have a generalized list on my “Favorites” page, but I wanted to give you a better list of my favorite books. I went back and found some of my actual reviews from Goodreads for this because I wanted to be sure you got my honest opinion (and it’s been a while since I read some of these). Without further ado, here are my all time favorite books:

  • The Princess Bride by William Goldman

    • OMG LOVE LOVE LOVE this book. I saw the movie first so when I read this book it was like seeing my favorite movie again, but with more interesting details! If you loved the movie then you MUST read this book. Fantastic.

  • Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews

    • I can’t say enough about this husband/wife duo. They’re simply amazing! I love everything written by them and the Kate Daniels Series is my absolute favorite. If you do nothing else, read the Kate Daniels series. You’ll thank me later.

  • Graceling by Kristin Cashore

    • A friend recommended this book to me and though I wasn't sure about it from reading the back, I requested it from my library. My review of this book...AMAZING! I instantly fell in love with Katsa (the main character) and wanted desperately for her story to turn out well. The characters are great as is the story.

  • Warrior by Marie Brennan/Witch by Marie Brennan

    • So you’ll notice I have two books for this one. Why? Because you can’t read just one! AMAZING! Superb! That is how I feel about these two books. MUST READS. Totally satisfying ending as well! (How often can you say that?)

  • Wild Magic by Tamora Pierce

    • Tamora Pierce is the queen of teen adventure stories. If you ever read Alanna then you will love this. If you haven’t read Tamora Pierce I highly recommend this book or Alanna: The First Adventure (Song of the Lioness #1) to everyone.

  • Bitten by Kelley Armstrong

    • The first in a great series, Clayton and Elena are my favorite characters by far. Great writing that really makes you feel the emotions they are.

  • Clean Sweep by Ilona Andrews

    • Dina has issues and is running on low, but she tries her hardest and she is such a kick. The different aspects and the characters who are so well presented definitely make this story. I also recommend reading “Sweep in Peace” which is the second book that they share chapters of free on their website. Clean Sweep was the first they did it with and then they released it as an ebook.

  • Hawksong by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes

    • This book was so intriguing and the world was so different from our own. Really good story and very well done writing. The story instantly pulled me in and I finished it within a few hours, not wanting to put it down and NEEDING to find out what happened at the end. It does not disappoint!

  • The Silver Kiss by Annette Curtis Klause

    • The story was great and I loved the ending! Because it didn’t give us the Americanized, happy ever after, ending. It ended like it needed to and how I felt it should.

  • I’d Tell You I Love You, But Then I’d Have To Kill You by Ally Carter

    • Spy girls! Do I need to say more? Okay, the girls are learning to be spies and the things they have to do and the things they try to do are intriguing and I was glued to this story.

  • Eyes Like Stars by Lisa Mantchev I loved this first book! It was so original and so creative. On a side note I wasn’t so fond of book two. I still recommend reading this first book!

  • Afterlight by Elle Jasper

    • This book keeps you glued to it! There's so much to the story and you don't want it to end. I read the excerpt at the back for the next book and I'm a little disappointed with some of the decisions Riley's making, she makes similar ones in this book. I know it adds to the storyline, but it's sort of irritating. Overall I loved this book. Definitely a must read for fantasy/paranormal romance lovers.

  • Soulless by Gail Carriger

    • I have to admit that it took me a bit to get interested in this book, but once I did I fell in love. I loved the main character. Moral of the story, it’s okay to be weird. Okay, maybe that’s not the moral, but I loved that she didn’t care that others thought she was a spinster and accepted who she was.

  • The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien

    • It’s what got me started in fantasy and it still lives up to its reputation. Amazing book.

  • Infinity by Sherrilyn Kenyon

    • This was a really good book filled with nonstop action and multiple types of preternaturals. I definitely recommend this book to fantasy readers.

  • Sisters Red by Jackson Pearce

    • This was a really good book. I loved the retelling of Little Red Riding Hood. There are lots of emotions throughout it.

  • Raised by Wolves by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

    • I LOVE this book!!! Bryn is an awesome main character and I just loved this story. I did not like the future books though and stopped reading them shortly after. This book is still great though and should be read.

  • Tithe by Holly Black

    • I like this series because there’s both dark and light and I feel Black shows both fully.

  • Evernight by Claudia Gray

    • I really enjoyed this book. The back of the book and the Prologue really get you going, but the twist in this book made me smile. Most authors wouldn't go with this twist, preferring to stay with the inferred. I really liked that the author chose to take the path less traveled.

  • Stray by Rachel Vincent

    • At first I wasn't too sure about Faythe, but the more I learned about her the more I loved her. She's a tough cat who doesn't let anyone do anything for her. She can fend for herself and has a bright mind. The entire series is really good so if you can get a set, I recommend it.

  • Glass House by Rachel Caine

    • Honestly I started this book and was like, "Great another human meets vampires book", but that is NOT what this book is like. I really enjoyed this book and once I discovered the story I was hooked. Finished this in one day.

  • Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

    • The book, the series, the characters, they’re all fantastic. Rose is a great character who you feel all of the emotions with and root for her as she goes. And Dmitri, oh Comrade, he’s to die for…no pun intended.

  • Princess Academy by Shannon Hale

    • Wow. I was not expecting to like this book so much. I read the back and thought, "yeah, this looks like it might be interesting". Then I started reading and halfway through couldn't put the book down! I really enjoyed this book and the characters. It made me wish I came from the mountain!

  • Eragon by Christopher Paolini

    • I really liked this book. It's actually my first dragon book and I wasn't disappointed. You follow Eragon as he learns about his destiny. I really like this book and recommend it to anyone who enjoys fantasy.

  • The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

    • This entire book series is amazing. One of my top YA book series. Adventure, Hero’s Jouney, Gods, Goddesses, and epic battles!

  • Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

    • A great book that keeps you hooked all the way to the last page! It has an interesting take on werewolves. Sadly I was disappointed with the rest of the series.

  • Moonlight by Rachel Hawthorne

    • I like the pack dynamic and the struggles that occur.

  • Midnight’s Daughter by Karen Chance

    • I love Dorina!

  • Moon Called by Patricia Briggs

    • One of my all time favorite adult series! This book series is phenomenal. Mercy is so likeable and her struggles and the way she goes out of her way to help her friends make her so enjoyable to follow. Love her!

  • Wolf Brother by Michelle Paver

    • This is a great series for young adults. I actually am looking forward to starting it with my daughter soon. Torak is great and the love he has for Wolf is so sweet it makes them both very lovable.

  • On the Edge by Ilona Andrews

    • Awesome book. Ilona Andrews delivers yet another great book that keeps you wishing for more. Rose is a strong main character that you instantly love. Declan is great too. I loved the banter between them and loved the ending. I do wish there was more from these two though.

  • The Girl in the Steel Corset by Kady Cross

    • Really good book with strong characters that you fall for. I am a becoming a huge steampunk fan and this is a great one.

  • Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas

    • AMAZING! This book and the ones that follow in the series are simply amazing and must reads. The characters are unique and interesting and the mysteries and suprises are definitely what kept me hooked to it and wishing for more.

  • Reign of Shadows by Sophie Jordan

    • I wasn’t a fan of Firelight (mainly because I didn’t like the MC), which is the only other Sophie Jordan book that I’ve read, but I gave this book a chance. I was not disappointed! I read this book in one day because of the action and how invested I was in Luna's story. This is an incredible book and is so well written! I loved everything except Luna’s reaction to something at the end (don’t want to spoil it for anyone so I won’t say more) and the huge cliffhanger! I just REALLY want to know what happens and wish that I had the next book available, but we don’t even have a release date for the next one since this book just came out last month! Our protagonists are strong in their own ways and together it seems like nothing can stop them. I loved this story and the new world Ms. Jordan created and I cannot wait to read more about Luna and Fowler and find out what happens next.

I know I’m missing some so I’ll try to add them when I think of them. Is your favorite not listed here? Let me know what your favorite books are so I can add them to my to-read list!
