The One (Selection #3) by Kiera Cass

Don’t read this if you don’t want spoilers for the previous books.

A decision is finally made.

I don’t know how I didn’t get whiplash from this series. To say that I’m happy it’s over is an understatement. Yes, I liked book one, book two was not as good, and then we get to book three. ::Sigh:: I felt like the ending was really rushed. We find out some important things that could change a lot, but then it’s just sort of shoved aside as we speed towards the ending. I sort of hate America. If you say it first I’ll say it back. SERIOUSLY! Oh, the King is such a jerk too!

Her stringing Aspen along is part of what made me hate her. She knew she was being a **** but she didn’t care. As soon as she said she was going to tell Maxon about Aspen, after he saw the note however many nights ago on Aspen’s wall, I knew things were not going to end well. She could have sat Maxon down and explained that she did not tell him who Aspen was because Aspen’s family needs the money since they’re sixes, but there had been nothing between them and never would be again because of her feelings towards Maxon. Does that happen? Of course not. Maxon completely overreacts to seeing her talking to Aspen, to the point that he’s going to marry another girl! What kind of idiot is he? He should not be a King with such emotionally charged actions. He is so cold to her the next day and only him almost dying makes him forgive her. America didn’t deserve to be forgiven. She was cheating on Maxon with Aspen while not physically, emotionally which is probably worse. Then the author wraps everything up with a big bow in the last five pages. Blah. At least it’s over with.
